Nicole joined Tall Turf in the summer of 2015 and has been a great addition to our team. She has a degree in social work and has been working in the Madison Square area for the past 7 years. Additionally, she serves on several area boards that deal with social justice issues. What Nicole loves most about working at Tall Turf is seeing how they equip and empower youth to become change agents within their communities in order to combat systemic racism. In her free time, Nicole enjoys cooking, watching basketball, and spending time with family and friends.
Miriam De Jong
Director of Programs
Miriam has been a part of the Tall Turf family since 2005, but has been serving as the Director of Programs since 2011. A graduate of Calvin College, member of the Christian Community Development Association National Leadership Cohort, and graduate of the Grand Rapids Initiative for Leaders, Miriam has been serving in urban youth ministry for over 15 years in Grand Rapids and Chicago. What she loves most about working at Tall Turf is empowering youth to discover their true identity in Christ as they seek to grow as leaders who live out lives of reconciliation in their families, communities, city, and world. In her free time, Miriam loves playing and watching sports, especially basketball, and spending time with friends and family.
LeMarr has been involved with Tall Turf since the year 2000. He has been a camper, Leader in Training (LIT), counselor, head counselor, and a LIT mentor. LeMarr loves JESUS and how He interacts with the unfortunate, and his goal is to become more like Christ. The thing that LeMarr loves the most about working with Tall Turf is getting to actually be the body of CHRIST to the campers and LITs. In his free time, he likes to study the Word, play basketball, destroy people in connect four (I would have been in the Olympics for this, but my shoulder...), write poetry, read books, and play chess.
David has been involved with Tall Turf for most of his life. He was a camper in the 80's, and his first summer working for Tall Turf was in 1995, as Maintenance Director. He served in that position until 1999, when he graduated from the Calvin College Education program. Following graduation, David has served as a teacher and parapro. In 2014, he came back to Tall Turf as the Assistant Site Manager, and took over as Site Manager during the Summer of 2015. David loves working outdoors, working with his hands, and working with children, so Camp Tall Turf is a perfect fit for him. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, biking, playing board games, and spending time with his family.
